to shop / favorite things, pt. 6 – my first pair of repetto ballet flats

I got my very first pair of Repetto BB ballet flats almost five years ago. The now defunct Fred Segal Trend online store had 50% off their entire stock, so I got three pairs. I ended up selling two pairs on eBay since they were final sale and it was my first foray into the brand (they were really hard to find online back in the day). The two sales more than covered the $130 I’d spent on the pair that I kept. I love these Flora flats in dust (lavender/grey) — they are buttery soft and have a cap toe. I did misplace them at some point but unearthed them during my last move and a trip to the cobbler had them looking like new. They aren’t as high maintenance as I expected light-colored suede to be. I check the weather every morning and even commute through icky Times Square.

I strongly believe one shouldn’t waste time and money on uncomfortable shoes. I much rather spend more on a quality purchase that gets worn often than on a cheap purchase that barely gets worn. I consider these to be a smart purchase, but am definitely still learning from many not so smart purchases!
