What I’ve been up to: got over jetlag, been getting acquainted with my Macbook Pro (so pretty!), cooking (Japanese tuna mayo seen above), and planning a trip.

  • Missed the Lilly Pulitzer x Target launch (fell asleep, the story of my life these days). Checked it out online and have no regrets. I’ve never been a Lilly person.
  • Applied for a Schwab checking account since it’s fee free and no minimums — that includes free ATM usage and no foreign transaction fees. It comes with a free brokerage account.
  • Strengthen your skin’s moisture barrier – and reduce your acne. I’ve always gone with what felt right – lower ph cleansers! (link)
  • Innisfree ships to the US now and their prices are really good! Use code USA15 for 15% off regular priced items for orders over $50 (HT: fanserviced). Their It’s Real sheet masks are buy 10, get another 10 free (just like it was in Taiwan a few weeks ago, but I’m not sure if you can mix and match online). If you buy over $70, you get samples and free international shipping (which is worth a lot). I love their volcanic clay mask and love this new packaging for travel. I do not put them on the same level as the other Korean brands I use (Mizon, Cremorlab), but I do really like their masks. (Edit – the ladies at Reddit reminded me to tell you there may be customs fees.)
  • Sephora is giving 10% off to Beauty Insiders (which is free) and 15% off to VIB and VIB Rouge members through Tuesday, April 21 with code BILOVE/VIBLOVE/ROUGELOVE respectively. I splurged for the Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist Intense, which I can’t find anywhere else. Had my eye on it for a while and used giftcards!
  • Madewell has up to 30% off almost everything through Monday, April 20. Love some of their dresses.
  • Ann Taylor has 50% off almost everything as well. I’m shocked at how fast some of their new arrivals flew off the shelves.
  • I think Anthropologie‘s additional 20% off sale ends on Monday, April 20. I picked up some more Ruan Hoffman for the kitchen (vase pictured above is from a prior purchase). One of my favorite collections!

Get an additional 25% off Anthropologie sale items with code EXTRAEXTRA. So hard to resist!

My picks:

  • Lakehouse Knit Blazer in Black Motif and Navy/Black. This didn’t look like much online. I didn’t take a second look online until I saw it in the store. I’m sad the Navy/Black one already sold out. I love a good navy and black combo.
  • Lorimer Moto Sweater. Thick and drapey. Works for the office too! I like the light grey more.
  • Tracery Tee. Subtle and classic.
  • Laney Leggings. I like thick knit legging pants.
  • Flutter Sleeve Column Dress. No reviews and is a stab in the dark, but the price is right and I love Anthropologie’s return policy.
  • Colorblocked Boucle Coat (not pictured). Slimming and also looks comfy.

to shop / {sale alert} my anthropologie picks

I love Anthropologie and regularly pop into my local store to gawk. There are some items that I’ve been wanting for a long time but have been waiting for a good discount — Anthropologie’s Black Friday sale can’t be more generous at 25% off everything with code HOLIDAY25. That beats the 15% birthday discount I got this month! Here are some of my favorites. You can see the rest of the sales here.

Tinted Olio E Sasso olive oil based lip balm (other beauty, including Mizon), Rifle Paper Co’s 2015 calendar (other Rifle), chicken dessert plates, the best smelling volcano candle (other volcano), my favorite vase, on sale (previously mentioned here), brass jewelry boxes, Ruan Hoffman.

to shop / {deal alert} 40.5% off acrylic desk accessories

Horchow has a really beautiful curation of home goods. While most of their products are out of my price range and reserved for window shopping, they have some more affordable items that are included in their 25-30% sitewide sales… like their acrylic desk accessories. Anthropologie fans may have seen them before. Buuuut, don’t buy it from Horchow, buy it from Neiman Marcus.

Horchow is Neiman Marcus’ furniture brand (just like CUSP and Bergdorf Goodman are also owned by NM). While all these online sites have the same inventory, promotions and cashback/mileage mall-type deals can vary greatly. There is some inventory/promotional overlap between the sites and in this case, by buying from NM, you can get an additional 15% off for an overall 40.5% off discount (if you have a Chase Freedom card). If you do not have a Chase Freedom, keep on reading:

  • 30% off sale – no code, good through Thursday night on NM.
    • If you missed the NM sale, the Horchow sale runs through November 12 early morning.
  • 10% cashback through Chase Ultimate Rewards Mall if you have a Chase Freedom, Ink, or Sapphire Preferred card and click through the mall’s NM link (you do not have to pay with the Chase card).
    • If you do not have Chase, my favorite cashback site, eBates, is giving 8% back if you set up an account and click through their link.
  • 5% cashback if you pay with a Chase Freedom card and enabled the Q4 bonus (Why wouldn’t you? Here’s the other Q4 retailers.);

You can also get free 2-day shipping and returns through ShopRunner. It’s similar to Amazon Prime, except they work with a bunch of retailers (many that I actually shop at!). If you’re an Amex cardholder, sign up for free (link) or get a free trial as an Amazon Prime member (link). Existing ShopRunner members can also share their account privileges with household members (as with Amazon Prime) by sending out an invite from the account details interface.

Using mileage malls and cashback are a second nature to me. I shop mostly online so it adds up to more than a day of “free lunch” or you can look at it as offsetting sales tax.

  • If you’re thinking about Christmas presents, some of the items are backordered until January.
  • Prices vary slightly between Anthropologie and Horchow/NM.
  • This “deal” doesn’t work on everything on Horchow and NM. E.g., Bric’s luggage. Bric’s is 30% off on Horchow (including the Bellagio style) but selectively on sale at NM.
  • I’ve been able to ask NM for free shipping (pre-ShopRunner days) if Bergdorf’s had it and NM didn’t, but they wouldn’t let me pricematch between their sites.

I. Food

  • Dominique Ansel revealed his Cronut recipe in advance of his cookbook launch at the end of the month. Not that I have any desire to attempt it. It’s very labor intensive and I wasn’t enthralled with the Cronut I tried. P.S. His instagram has lots of food porn.

II. Fashion
