Is Banana Republic finaaaalllly ‘back’? (I remember it started to go downhill when Goodby Silverstein did this advertising campaign back in March 2005.)

A few months ago, I bought a dress* from Banana Republic and didn’t return it. And now, this Nautical Basketweave blazer is on my very short list. I love a good navy blazer and this one reminds me of the Balmain on Emmanuelle Alt that I posted about 4 years ago.

I tried it on at the store today (a rare B&M visit). Since I have short arms, I go for petite sizing when I can and this comes in regular, petite, and tall sizes. My store only had regular sizes but it was enough to help me get a sense of sizing. It is cut well. if you want a close fit, size down. I could’ve gone for a regular size for my arms, so that means the sleeves are on the shorter size. The material is on the thicker side, so it’s not for a hot summer, but would hold up in other seasons or in air conditioning.

Most of Uniqlo x Ines de la Fressange Spring 2015 is on sale. This linen tailored jacket is a favorite and looks to have been massively restocked in the last 24 hours. Great quality and great fit! Currently on sale for $49.90, there’s another coupon if you purchase over $125 and shipping is free on all orders. My only quibble is I need to alter the sleeve length. If your size is out, the website seem to restock frequently at all times of the day.

Sidenote: Dear Uniqlo, if you had an online price adjustment policy, I would make less returns.

I’ve been unintentionally avoiding J.Crew lately, but the few times I’ve popped on to jcrew.com, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the amount of items on sale and the prices. This go around, I see plenty of classic styles on sale. I’ve never seen the schoolboy blazer properly on sale (i.e. temporary mistake) for less than $80. If you’re in the market for one, there are tons of sizes in both black and navy (oh, what a dilemma) and it’s a very very decent price with the 40% off code. It’s also not final sale (best way to tell is when you add it to your cart)!

I consider the schoolboy blazer style to be a classic piece — whether for work or play — and the quality of a J.Crew blazer is excellent. You can’t compare it to e.g. Gap or Zara.
