(1) There was a frenzy a while back and this Love Sam lace blouse sold out. But, then Shopbop restocked and Anthropologie got it too. It’s a copy of Etoile Isabel Marant’s Garbo blouse from last summer. I don’t have the appetite for Etoile Isabel Marant prices, so this will suffice. It is on the shorter side and runs big. It’s super breezy for hot summer days. It comes in black as well on Shopbop, but it’s too dark for the summer!
(2) I’m not keeping this mesh dottie top by Sweet Pea from Anthropologie, but some people might like the style. It’s a bit too vintage for me.
(3) My favorite proper striped boatneck mariniere is from Uniqlo (second would be Petit Bateau!). Warning, it runs big and is a heavier cotton so it’s not for hot weather. I have two from a few years ago and they both have held up very well. Sidenote: If you get your hands on the Airism slip, it’s fabulous for hot weather. It’s hard to find though – sold out super fast in the US and I didn’t even see it in HK/Singapore.

I never saw reason to pay premium for the Diane von Furstenberg Zarita dress when Adrianna Papell executed it just as well. The Adrianna Papell lace overlay sheath dress in blush is currently 55% off at Nordstrom and Amazon for $71.10, and at Loehmann’s for $99.99 (regular, petite and look out for coupons). It runs short, true to size, and is pretty fitted but fully lined in a soft material. The back zipper makes it a bit inappropriate for the workplace, but it can be dressed up with a blazer and a belt.
It also comes in mauve (looks like blush…), navy (plus size, on sale), prussian blue (on sale, here and here), mint green (here and here), turquoise (here and here), white, and coral. Note that the inventory of sizes at all linked sites can change daily.
Now, if you still prefer the Diane von Furstenberg Zarita dress, or they have a color that AP doesn’t, there are a ton of non-classic colors at Saks Fifth Avenue that have been heavily discounted to 65-70% off. Many sizes/colors are sold out, but if you click on the “Choose Color and/or Size” and sign up for the waitlist for soldout colors/sizes, they actually email you if it comes back in stock!
Some dresses I’ve been stalking finally went on sale!
I’d never heard of the British brand, Hobbs, but for those who have been following my blog long enough, it’s a no brainer why I’d fancy this dress with all its broderie anglaise. It looks similar to the Whistles Lisa Dress I got over the summer in London, except suitable for colder weather. Like most British brands, some of the other Hobbs styles look rather stuffy. To check out Hobbs, google for other third party sites as Hobbs’ own international shipping is insane at 20 gbp.
Dillard’s is a Southern department store chain which I’ve been shopping from, online, for ages. They have pretty insane sales, carry many brands that bigger, more well-known department stores like Macy’s, Nordstrom, and NM carry, and have great house lines that are on trend (see Alex Marie or Antonio Melani). Similar to Hobbs, you have to pick through the house brands to find the gems. The quality is pretty good and I’ve seen styles that look almost identical to Marc by Marc Jacobs before. I also found a great copy of the Issa wrap dress (which was made popular by Kate Middleton), but I’ve had trouble finding it in my unpacked boxes. Ha. They had a really good New Year’s sale, but just started another sale. While prices aren’t as low as the NY prices, they are still pretty decent. I never buy anything at full price here. Be careful, however, of the items that are marked as final sale in your cart.

They also carry Elie Tahari. This season ET brought back my favorite Lolly dress in lace, in navy. I picked it up in black last year. It looks like some modifications were made to the bodice, thus bringing it down in price too. 65% off is a great price for this dress. The quality is amazing.
