to shop / 2019 thanksgiving sales

Going out of the country during the Thanksgiving week is a great way to spend less! (Although I did shop in Paris…) Unlike prior year updates, I’m going to summarize what I bought and highlight any other sales that may still be around through Monday.

Overall

Beauty

  • Target has 25% off beauty and personal care!
  • Dermstore for Elta sunscreen. Amazon sells it now too but their reviews about inventory don’t put me at ease. (I will be claiming reimbursement from my FSA later.)
  • Cult Beauty had a tiered 15-30% off discount, now you can get up to a 25% off code with their quiz. They are based in the UK, so best for purchasing non-US brands as they deduct VAT and have free shipping. I got the Zelens Vitamin D, Alpha-H Vitamin B, and an Oskia set.
  • Ulta has been killing it with sales. Their Cyber Monday sale is live. 40% off a few Peach & Lily items.
  • Beautycounter 15% off. I have been using their Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer. I picked up some skincare and body products.
  • Glossier 20% off. I haven’t used any of their products lately. I got the perfume.
  • Birchbox will have an additional discount on sets starting on Monday. Their holiday sets and discovery sets are typically the best deal. E.g. the hair detox kit has a full size Oribe scrub (which I like more than Christophe Robin) that sells for less than the kit, Sunday Riley, etc.
  • Sephora has special sales, some are sold out. I did not keep an eye on them.
  • It Cosmetics CC Cream on QVC — $45 for two.
  • Neiman Marcus $50 off $200 beauty has switched to a gift card promotion (I prefer a cash discount).

Home

  • Parachute Home 20% off. I like their linen sheets. I ordered waffle towels.
  • Anthropologie 30% off. I ordered chairs for the dining table that look promising and has positive reviews. Most furniture has a $150 flat shipping fee, but some smaller items including what I ordered are shipped through ground shipping (free if you meet the threshold).
  • Brooklinen 20% off. I have multiple sheet sets, they are a favorite. Most recently in percale.

Bags

  • Polène is a French brand. Their leather handbags are made in Spain. Prices are affordable. Free international express shipping on all orders until Dec 24 with the code: GIFTFROMPARIS. You can save a bit with the VAT refund if you buy in Paris, but factor in luggage space if you want to keep the box. The Number One style is the most popular but I like Number Two.
  • Clare V hasn’t run a sitewide sale in years. Consistent with recent years, the Cyber Monday > Black Friday.
  • Ssense has a great APC bag sale. So many half moons. My recent favorite has been the Meryl, which is slightly smaller than the original half moon but is soft. I liked traveling with this the most since it stays closer to the body. I also like the new grained leather half moon and am really tempted by it now that I don’t need to worry about luggage space.

Clothing

  • J.Crew had 50% off, then 40% off, and is now back to 50% off. I had put some items in my cart to wait for it to go back to 50%. I love their lace items (like this mockneck top) this season and their tissue turtlenecks.
  • Ann Taylor 50% off.

to shop / 2018 cyber week deals

It’s that time of year again! I will be updating this over the long weekend. In general, I’m buying items that are on my list — many of the retailers only have a discount once a year. If you miss out on a deal, keep on mind Green Monday is on December 9 (last Monday before Christmas for ground shipping).

Updated on Monday morning.

Note on Cashback and Return Shipping

  • Ebates has great cashback rates at the moment for many stores. You can get an extra $10 cashback with my Ebates referral if you don’t have an account. It is a legit cashback site, I have been using it for almost 2 decades! You just have to remember to checkout from their link. I use other cashback sites as well but overall, Ebates has the best rates right now.
    • Rates: Saks, Neiman Marcus (14%); Bloomingdale’s, Barneys, Ulta, Gap, Lululemon, Macys (10%); L’Occitane (15%); Sephora (8%); J.Crew (6%)
  • Chase Freedom 5% on department stores: If you have a Chase Freedom credit card, it makes the department store cashback ‘deals’ even sweeter with the extra 5% cashback.
  • Discover and Amazon Pay: If you have a Discover card, the 5% cashback on Amazon also works on Amazon Pay (i.e. similar to PayPal, Amazon Pay is a payment method). This stacks with any cashback for the retailer you are purchasing from.
  • PayPal refunds return shipping: if you pay with PayPal, you are eligible for a refund return shipping, if you had to pay for it. Super easy process and up to $30 per refund, 12 times a year so I usually save this for those sites that don’t offer a label. I also like to pay with PayPal on those smaller sites so my payment information is centralized. Previously mentioned here.

to shop / 2017 cyber week deals

I wasn’t able to blog earlier, but rest assured, there are still plenty of sales going on in case you are late to the game, and Cyber Monday is sometimes better than Black Friday. I save many purchases for November — it’s best to navigate with a list in mind. Unfortunately, I don’t plan to update this during the day on Monday.

Overall
Anthropologie / 30% off through Sunday. Predicting it will be 20% off and a larger % off for sale items on Monday. I shop their homewares and beauty more often than their clothes. They have a ton of good stuff, especially natural beauty! Recent loves: Rooster Highball Glass Set, Aquis towels. Also really been wanting the Faravel Moto Jacket in my size (backordered) and this CJW Italian Elements Scarf.
Apple iTunes and Google Play gift cards from Costco for 15%+ off (requires membership). Whatever I can pay for through iTunes I will so that I’m getting a discount (including my Netflix). Youtube Red is also really useful for watching those Chinese dramas with 50+ episodes on my commute. The $100 iTunes gift card is also available at Amazon for $85 if you have the Discover credit card that gives you 5% cashback this quarter.
ShopSpring / Not sure if they will do Cyber Monday but hope they do. They are a shopping service and tend to do 20% off site-wide sales with a cap. This is great because they carry items from Clare V, L’Occitane, Barneys, Brooklinen, etc.
Target / 15% off Monday. This is when I stock up on Cerave foaming cleanser.
Texture / 3 months for $5. Expiration unknown. If you like to read magazines on your mobile device. I love this, especially when I am traveling. You can download all back issues too!
Amazon / $5 off $20 on books through Sunday with GIFTBOOK17.

Beauty
Birchbox / Spend over $75 to get 25% site-wide through Monday. They carry some brands I love like Shu Uemura Art of Hair, Tata Harper, Dr Jart, and Oribe. You can also buy gift cards for subscriptions. I no longer get their box but this is the only time of year I would shop from them.
Dermstore / 25% off today, 30% off predicted for tomorrow. They carry a lot of other brands and I love that they also have a rewards program. They had a 30% off sale for Black Friday, currently have a 25% off sale, but I expect it to be 30% tomorrow with no exclusions. When it’s no exclusions, you can shop for Drunk Elephant. Nope, it was 25% the entire weekend and exclusions never lifted.
Glossier / 20% off and free shipping through Monday. I got the clear boy brow, stretch concealer, and body hero duo (hope it’s not too badly scented).
Tata Harper / 20% off $100+ with exclusions through Thursday, Nov 30. A pretty good sale but not the best sale. I ended up getting what I wanted at Birchbox or Cult Beauty’s Black Friday sale (with a nice gwp).
Tatcha / You have to submit your email to get your offer. They have a bunch of holiday sets. I also got their lip oil – which is nice, but a splurge. This is an ok sale — if you want Tatcha, be sure to check QVC as well who has their own sets and a free shipping promotion going on.
Bloomingdales / 10% almost all beauty with nice gwp (including full size items for Space NK purchases). Good through Monday.
Peach and Lily / 30% off Korean beauty through Monday. I have stuff in my cart but am tempted to buy nothing.
Neiman Marcus / They did a $50 off $200 through yesterday and now have a tiered gift certificate promotion. I only mention NM here because they have Vintner’s Daughter on back order.
Nordstrom / They have a lot of gift with purchases. Depending on what you are buying, the freebie may > a discount.

Clothing
Uniqlo / Love their Heattech stuff and collabs. They started their Black Friday sales early. This year I got some Ultra Warm Heattech items (which is warmer than Extra Warm).
J.Crew / Through Monday noon, 40% + 10% with some exclusions. (That’s 46% off.) I’ve been shopping a bit at J.Crew lately, but also returning a lot. If you like anything that Nordstrom carries, you can also pricematch there.
Petit Bateau / 50% off sitewide through Monday for Cyber Monday/Weekend. Black Friday was 40% off. I love their tees so I’m really excited for this milleraies travel set with shawl, eye mask, and pouch that’s made with the same material.

Home/Accessories
roztayger / 25% off full price with NOIR25. Exclusions noted on top of page. Tightly curated collection of bags. Through Monday, Nov 27.
MoMA Design Store / 20% off and free shipping through Monday. This is a pretty generous offer, especially if you are a member too. I love their curation (which also has some Uniqlo and Muji). They have the Stendig calendar which always sells out.
Need Supply Co. / 20% off through Sunday. Last year they did 25% off for Cyber Monday. A nice curation and while they have clothes, I’ve only paid attention to the home/office/accessories.
Baggu / 25% off through Monday. My favorite print of this season is the strawberry (sold out) and orange tree.
Rifle Paper Co. / 30% off through Tuesday.

to shop / 2016 cyber week deals

Last updated Mon, Nov 28 at 5:11pm ET

Sales worth noting — retail must be hurting as the deals are overall better than usual. Similar to last year, many retailers have a weeklong promotion. Smaller retailers tend to stick to the traditional Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and often have different promotions for each occasion. I will be updating if I see anything good throughout the long weekend, so check back later! Newer deals will be listed on top. Happy shopping and enjoy your Thanksgiving weekend… and let me know if you get anything :)

Nordstrom / Pricematching J.Crew 40% and Madewell 25% off for most items

Amazon Luxury Beauty / Spend $50+, get $25 for future Luxury or Professional Beauty purchase code BEAUTYGIFT25 (exp unknown). Must be sold/shipped by Amazon.com.

to shop / {deal alert} target beauty up to 32% off today

The Target beauty department is a whopping 25% off today. Many items are already discounted and have another 10% off code. I’m super excited and stocked up on more Cerave foaming face wash and the highly recommended Pixi Glow Tonic. The tonic was in-store only so I placed an order for pickup. In general, online prices are more competitive and placing an order for in-store pickup is the best of both worlds. One item was only available online and already has a delayed shipping warning!

25% off code: BEAUTY. 10% off code:  SHINE.
